Mind Map

I created a mind map describing the main research domains I have been looking at pursuing, with the central area being character design. The areas branching from this all relate to things that I feel are either important to the central domain or that I find interesting.

Aliens of the Earth

One of my favorite parts of artwork is the design of characters, from strange creatures to people. I have recently been looking into macro and microscopic photography and have found a wealth of inspiring and to some degree disturbing images of the alien world that exists right in front of us everyday.

Light graffiti

More inspiring works of art using light. Light graffiti involves using a photographic technique in which exposures are made by moving a light source or camera in a darkened space.

Light Art

One of the first things I have to do is find out what I would like to base the project on. I'm keeping an open mind as I explore areas of interest to see what is out there and what people are currently working on.

At the moment I'm looking at artworks where the media of expression is light. Light has always fascinated and amazed me, and was my sanctuary from the terror of darkness when I was a young child, so I figured it would be a good place to start.

The artist I'm looking at at the moment is Raphael Daden, who has been commissioned to create light art in various locations around the UK. (http://www.raphaeldaden.co.uk)

First Post!

Welcome to my honours project blog, where I will be documenting the progress of my project as it develops from a furious flurry of unorganised thoughts and ideas, into what will hopefully end up as a well refined and wondrous masterpiece!

I will be collecting and sharing many of the things that inspire me throughout this journey such as artwork, clips and music, and writing about the influences which will help shape my project.
