Astro/Exobiology
Astrobiology is the study of the origin, evolution, distribution, and future of life in the universe. (from wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astrobiology#Biology)
The term exobiology is similar but more specific — it covers the search for life beyond Earth, and the effects of extraterrestrial environments on living things.

Tide Pool creature concept
This is a creature concept designed for the tide pool challenge on CGhub - Creature Planets 2D
"Tide pools are all about change. With each surge of water, this tiny world can change completely, showcasing different lifeforms adapted to handle low tide or high tide. This is a great place to explore creature design and really think about how a creature would need to adapt to survive in this ever changing environment."

Creature Design Analysis: Elesquid
Firstly, this design needs some narrative/environmental context against which it can be evaluated. The planet on which the design is based on is similar to the earth in most aspects, apart from the water/land ratio. There is far less dry land on the planet, however, it can be speculated that there was once more that has been covered by floods due to global warming. Gravity and all other forces of physics are the same as we experience here on earth.
